CellulaZ by Roberto Zanon and Gaia Zebellin

The leading idea behind CellulaZ, a project by Roberto Zanon and Gaia Zebellin,  is about creating a collection which can switch from home decor to body ornament, taking advance of wax and ceramic characteristics, both physical and poetic.

We can trace histories of familiar objects which assume a new meaning, included and melted into an organic ceramic shape, enclosed itself in a ephemeral wax box, as you may decide to keep it or even to light it ’til it completely dissipates.

Garbage couture, contemporary jewellery, hybrid decor, massive and ephemeral at the same time, and last but not least… gorgeous!

CHARLOTTE DAFFERN

Charlotte Daffern’s creations…

“…My investigations inform new enquiries which develop my progression and understanding of the world around me. I enjoy the juxtaposition of various elements and concepts that compliment and contradict each other such as irreverence with sophistication and exorbitance with rebellion. This results in an equivocality that spans a range of discourse subject matters relating to gender, fashion, sociology, culture and history.”

Amazing contemporary jewellery pieces by Jane Gowans

“Don’t say it, read it.
Watch it, feel it.
React.

Without speech, a mood, a reaction, an emotion, can be understood. My work demonstrates this physical communication.
Too close or not close enough?

Diddo Velema

The designer gas masks – high fashion protection project by Diddo Velema

“We are in a state of perpetual war… Perpetual war breeds perpetual fear.

…Deep down, we are afraid we may never be satisfied. An expanding archive of branded myths and icons feeds this fear. Designer Gas Masks is an attempt to visualize this state of mind. Because it is only by first acknowledging and then challenging fear that we will all be able to breathe a little easier”

LOBSTER FW COLLECTION

LOBSTER it’s turning 3. Only few years have passed, and it has already become one of the most interesting brands in the italian streetwear scene…
“LOBSTER was actually born by chance.  Two partners, Jeppy and Sale, owned MARKER SHOP, a street shop and the symbol of underground culture in their town. They decided to start producing some tees to be sold in the shop. Jeppy was inspired by a tshirt of his with a lobster on the front and suggested the name …. straight away, Sale started working on a logo design.  The first and only design captured the essence of what the brand would be about…and LOBSTER was born. Sale’s talent for illustration and his awareness of trends meant the designs kept coming, got noticed and above all people were buying them.

The philosophy behind the brand, even though born by chance, is clear; “make what we like, what we would wear, and collaborate with who we respect”. The result is something that reflects LOBSTER’s origins; the world of graffiti, of skateboarding, of hip hop and hard core music. Collaboration with street artists, photographers, magazines and record labels, has been fundamental in sealing a friendship born years ago in the train yards and at concerts between like minded people.”

Here are some pics from the FW collection…

S1NGLETOWN BY DROOG AND KESSELKRAMER

S1ngletown is one of the most interesting projects I saw at the 11th Venice Biennale Architecture
” More and more, we live by ourselves. Traditional social networks of family and clan have given way to temporary and negotiated ones, and even friendships are fluid and often exist outside of physical space. By 2006, a third of all of us in developed and developing countries will be living alone. How can we be at home in the modern world? the Dutch collective Droog Design, in collaboration with the advertising farm Kesselkramer, has collaborated to create a prototype community for singles. “S1ngletown” is an abstract representation of an urban space consisting of the cocoons, implements, connective technologies, and wearable signs singles nees in order to inhabit our atomized environment. It is a network of solitary nodes in a spatial network architects, designers and artists must weave in order to create a social alternative to a landscape of alienated individuals and static objects”

dscn4802.jpg
“A JACKET FOR LONELY PEOPLE is a jacket made of velcro strips. The lonely single walks around their city, hoping to bump into someone else with the same jacket. On contact, the two jackets connect, creating an instant social situation. Made by COMPANY – Aamu Song & Johan Olin”
dscn4804.jpg

“LIFE DRESS is a means of creating instant privacy in crowds. The wearer activates air cartridges to inflate the skirt, turning into a human-sized bubble. made by AnnaMariaCornelia De Gersem”

Martin Margiela SS09

20 years of Martin Margiela. 20 years of style, research and innovation. Martin Margiela has always been among those who think in advance, prefigure, determine fashion, and this SS collection, which celebrates the 20th year of the Maison, clearly underlines all these characteristics.

All the classics of the maison were on the catwalk, but updated, worn by models whose faces were hidden behind stockings or wigs, in a surreal athmosphere full of trompe l’oeil and modern and contemporary art suggestions…

I may be a little late, I know this video is already spreading its word but it’s so brilliant that I decided to post it the same.

Ferrè SS09 by Aquilano e Rimondi

It surely was a difficult task to develop the SS09 Ferrè collection after Ferre’s death. Well, Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi (worldwide known for their work at Malo and for their 6267 brand) made an outstanding collection, maintaining the peculiar traits of Ferre’s style while looking at the future. Amazing results!!

lucyandbart project

A fascinating project which tries to reach (and then pass) body’s boundaries. A reflection, a projection, an hypothesis of evolution…
“…LucyandBart is a collaboration between Lucy McRae and Bart Hess described as an instinctual stalking of fashion, architecture, performance and the body. They share a fascination with genetic manipulation and beauty expression. Unconsciously their work touches upon these themes, however it is not their intention to communicate this. They work in a primitive and limitless way creating future human shapes, blindly discovering low tech prosthetic ways for human enhancement…”

SKORPIONS KINETIC GARNMENTS

SKORPIONS by XSLABS are ” …a set of kinetic electronic garments that move and change on the body in slow, organic motions. They have anthropomorphic qualities and can be imagined as parasites that inhabit the skin of the host. They breathe and pulse, controlled by their own internal programming…”
